Should I try to make things now or should I wait until 4.0? I saw that the 2.1 models don't play nice with version 3.5 and I'm wondering if that will happen again when we move to 4.0.

Thanks for the heads up! I'm new at modding with Maya and XSP of course. What's the best place to start? How recent are the tutorials and are they kept updated? I've only just starting reading them and want to know the best source to learn everything.

Wiki tutorials are 3.0 and a few things may not be the same in 3.5.
Tutorial pack contains most of 3.5 elements.

A good place to start is http://wiki.xmoonproductions.org/index. ... ng_a_story
You have the tutorial resource pack and if you want to follow the above, unpack the "pack_abduction.bin" somewhere just for reference.

This tutorial is 3.0 and the same on wiki, but the file "pack_abduction.bin" contains all the correct files (for step "9. Abducted story"). If you run into crashes, just pick the correct files.

Example:
For the first step (1. Adding a new story) to make the story show up in the game you have to edit story.txt and replace
app_version = (3,0); with app_version = (3,5);
version = (0,1); with version = (0,2);

Oops...I got 2016 already without realizing it.

I can already do small stuff but what I was more interested in was adding new props and making new animations.

For some reason, I can't find any Maya files to edit. I've unpacked the dungeon but I just don't see them.
