Hell yes ! Please Admin and other key people developing XStory Player.
XStory Player would be perfect for room scale use with the HTC Vive.
The perfect example is PlayClubVR : http://www.hongfire.com/forum/forum/hen ... bvr-openvr

Problem at the moment is that most VR companies are protecting their VR devices more and more.

As a developer this means that in order to support and test you have to buy all VR devices now and in the future.

An (open source) standard is of course the answer to this, but given that e.g. OR CV1 drivers can only be installed if you are connected to the original hardware, I do not see the manufactures fully adopting a standard soon.

Valve does seem to be complying now, but do not forget that OR started as an open source kickstarter and look what it has become now.

We spend a lot of time since the start of OR DK1 to keep up to date with their VR, and were simply expecting a lot more from it.

Also the details on market size has not been forwarded by any manufacturers. My guess personally is that they also were expecting more from it as well, and do not want to go public with the current (low) adoption of their hardware. But that is a guess, I do not have and info to back this claim up.

We have been looking at the HTC software, but is looks more like the OR DK1 sdk, and that was a real pain in the ... because you had to make the shaders more or less yourself.
If the HTC software was more in line with the current OR sdk (like e.g. directx and opengl are in line now), the job would be a lot more straightforward.

So at the moment we will wait a while to see how things progress in the market. I do like the look and feel of the models using the OR a lot, so most likely the HTC will be supported as well in the future. And the more people keep asking for it, the more likely this will be. But I cannot make any promises on this at the moment.

Do a Pledge for use like if 1000USD Pledged with HTC Vive in it we will then make it or something like that.

Xpadmin have you looked at SteamVR? should work for both.

Yes what he said ! I'm sure if you started a Patreon for VR/HTC Vive implementation youd see a lot of people giving money for this awesome goal !

Thanks I appreciate the response. Hopefully you'll make the switch as demand increases.

If you're not planning on outright adopting the SteamVR api, you could take a look at the revive project, which is like a compatibility layer between the Oculus Rift runtime and the HTC Vive. It isn't a perfect solution, but it would save you a ton of development time if you can get it to work.

Moving forward, you could focus your VR development efforts on implementing support for motion controllers for the full experience, which would make Vive users like me happy immediately, and Rift users happy when Touch is released later this year. :D
