A few people have said that adult games can only become mainstream if they're not JUST adult games. That is, if they would be fun to play as games without the adult content. The problem there is that a game like that could just not have the adult content and be way more profitable. I don't think anyone with a strong profit motive would make that kind of game, and I think that that's one of the reasons why so many adult games are really simplistic compared to mainstream games.

As someone who is making an adult game, I have to say that there's also a lot to consider when it comes to laws and rules. I have to dance around a bunch of rules. The only reason I'm choosing to make an adult game is that I enjoy drawing adult art 1000 times more than regular art :)

That all in mind, I think that our cultural attitudes toward sex would have to change a lot before anyone who has the time, skill, and resources to make a fun regular game would take those same resources and make an adult game... :(

Then it's very strange that every game that could be modded has had some type of sex mode even if all it is is nudity. The problem isn't if it would make money (it would hand over fist). The problem is all the Puritan attitudes that would try to keep it from being sold. How long was Rapelay on the shelves before certain people noticed it and lost their uptight little minds? Now everyone is scanning every pixel and file to find something to be outraged about. Otherwise they might have to confront the truth that it's probably their screwed up values that causes more problems.

History doesn't support your theory. BMX XXX - not very controversial in Europe, but didn't sell very well there either.

From what I heard it wasn't the content but the game itself. A crappy game is a crappy game regardless of rating. There has to be a reason to play the game besides porn. You can get terabytes of porn on the net. Good games with good graphics are somewhat rarer. And good games with well done sexual content are a very rare gem indeed.

Personally, I think that with the development of VR technology adult games will get Much much more popular.

First of all, nowadays a lot of the hardcore gamers are in their 30-40`s, so there is no need for game producers to target only young ones.

On top of all with virtual reality slowly taking over the adult world it will inevitably come a time that VR will take over gaming as well and time will come when separating gaming from adult will be nearly impossible. Of course there will be the funny little worlds for kids ( imagine Super Mario in VR ),
but more and more people will want x-rated stuff.

I am the owner of " MobileVRxxx " a website for VR Porn and I get daily request to create a games section and feature adult vr games. Which to tell you the truth
are not that much and not that good.

After searching for a little while I found this game and I would like to feature it on my website, can anyone tell me how should I contact the owner/s?

Regards

Video games stand apart from the rest of modern technology because of the medium's immunity to pornography.

In my opinion the issue is, that america is one, if not the, biggest market and they have those hypocratic censor rules, which you mentioned - violence yes, nudity no.
Germany for example has prime time movies with nudity in them, but they are shitting their pants with violence and Japan would be more erotic focussed, but besides them not sharing most of their stuff, they also still adapt the censorship the americans "installed" (pixelated genitalia) and current developement goes towards more censorship too.

So yeah, in short I guess there are 2 factors why it would be hard to get mainstream adult games:
1) economy
2) quality

1) you would miss out on countries with stupid censorship laws, plus ages under 18 years.

2) adult games are mostly bad to mediocre quality..engine, graphics, lenght and gameplay wise. Of course that also ties to economy, cause without major publishers or investors backing developers, it is hard to get the best tools.

Maybe adult games should go the indie game way: doing kickstarters, producing quality in a smaller frame and looking for publishing plattforms where they are able to sell their product (obviously not steam, since they are following age restrictions, as you may have seen with that "seduce me" game)

I agree especially with the 2nd point. Most porn games have very short stories to almost no story at all thus gameplay is too short. Mainstream games are also making efforts to extend the game time so gamers would think that their purchases are worth it. I mean, would you buy a game that you can play for a short time or just play the same plots again and again.
