So it's been a very, very long time since I made a post. I figured I'd throw in my two cents here.

When it comes to looking for updates, I pop by once a week or every couple of weeks and see if there's been anything posted about a new release. This is the way I've been handling the lack of news. Now, that being said;

While I do understand that programming is very involving, takes a lot of time and then doubles-down when you need to seek out all the little bugs, not posting at all is not a good way to operate. It leaves a lot of doubt in the majority of the minds of your potential customers. This could eventually affect sales in the future. Even if there's no news to give, simply stating that you're still working on things can go a long way. People need a flow of information, even if it's slow, to keep faith in a product they're waiting for.

The creator of Lilith's Throne is a good example here as even though their updates are very far apart, and there are many delays, there is still information explaining what's going on. Posting any kind of update is still an update, even if there had been little to no progress. Information is being shared, thus the majority of the followers become satisfied. There are few things more frustrating than a lack of information.

The issue I see being brought up is not so much that people are expecting 4.0 to be released right away or that the wait is long, it's just the communication is incredibly poor. While someone might claim they heard from the admin about how things are going, that's hearsay until the person in question actually states something themselves. No offence is meant by this, it's simply fact.

If the admin popped into this thread and simply stated something along the lines of "the project is still ongoing and still needs a lot of work. We've <insert small note of progress or discovery of bugs>." that would be all we'd need. Even if an update of progress is posted once a month, I'm fairly certain that nearly everyone would be satisfied with that.

I enjoy the product I have. I look forward to 4.0 being made, if it ever does get released. I'll continue checking back for updates. But as much as I enjoy what I have, and no matter the patience and understanding I have, the developer really needs to get their act together on posting ANY kind of information, even if they don't want to post on something unfinished. It's far, far worse to keep going as they are.

That's my opinion anyway. And now, back to lurking.

I just wants to know one thing;
do we still have reliable confirmation that the developer is still alive, healthy and on task?

There was a post several months ago yes. He posted this on July 2019

Hello everyone,

It has been quite some time since my last post and some of you may have been wondering if I was still alive.
I have been hesitant posting something because I know there is still a lot of work ahead before the next version can be released.

We have been working very hard on the engine and the code is starting to shape up the way that I wanted. A lot has been learned from the previous version(s) and those lessons are being incorporated into the new engine. Dynamic loading of the environment, elaborate modding options and easier updating are some of these lessons.

I like to thank everyone supporting us and promise to do everything needed to release an new version for you.

Best regards Xpadmin

It's a bit of a shame. Can't say I'm surprised, though. I hope he's OK and had a good holiday period. Would have been nice to hear from him. Oh well.

I've said my piece on the lack of dev interaction before, so won't repeat it again, cept to say that even one message a month would be better than nothing. e.g "We worked all month on the math class, math is broken, we need more time to fix it".

I think it's sad that it has got to the stage where we are pressuring people with any contact to the devs for any information, sorry to Eskarn.

It's shouldn't be up to him to give us any light on development, when it can easily be done by themselves. Anyone still following this site is genuinely a fan of the work, and keen to see how it will be in the future. While we aren't entitled to know anything, it would be courteous to throw us a bone once in a while.

Hope everyone is doing well.

I backed their crowdfunding campaign. That campaign made a lot of promises. They delivered on one product but have two to go.

As of right now I believe they will not deliver on those last two products and have abandoned this project.

I just want the devs to know that I am fully satisfied with what they delivered and expect nothing more from them. My crowdfunding contribution was well worth it. The product they delivered was good enough for me and I am glad I could help them get that product finished.

I think they are afraid to post that they are abandoning this project because they still have two products to deliver.

I don't think anybody here is going to hold them to that. It's been so long that the money is long gone and they are no longer obligated to keep working for free.

It's okay to move on to other projects.

Good luck to the devs.
