Yes, Maya 2015 can be legally used as student version.

The XSP Filemaker will be made compatible with Maya 2016 in the future, but for now you can use 2015.

I feel i should point out that their is an educational version of Maya and Max and it is free, don't actually know why people on this forum don't know about this however I'm sure someone will fill me in.

That's what the youtube video is about, it shows how to register for the free 3 year student version.

Student edition of maya or max means you can create models as long you dont make money from it.
Thats why many people sell regular. obj .fbx etc or move to free software.

I hate the Autodesk prices are for companies, not for some poor freelancer making 100 from a render. And student editition means teach yourself and buy our product.
