I will be listing my favs from this site: http://www.daz3d.com/people/women

Are these compatible for xstory's engine/rigging whatever?

Most of the prices seem reasonable and there is sales much of the time.

Hope you will consider some :)

I don't think these models are license free. So to use them in XStoryPlayer would be a problem.

Ah, thanks for stopping me now. I was still digging through all the greatness in their store. I will look for another site i recall seeing before.

There are these bodies however from mods in Oblivion modding "DMRA","Manga", "Suicup" bodies that should be licence free, maybe could use it? or perhaps too low quality?

Here is a album of my oblivion pics showing off these bodies and some clothing http://imgur.com/a/l4fsc

You actually can acquire a license to use them in games from Daz.

Quote:

The terms of this addendum 3.0 are in force only when User has purchased one of the following products from the online DAZ store:

Indie Game Developer License (sku: 12113)
Commercial Game Developer License (sku: 12479)
RawArt Commercial Game Developer License (sku: 12618)

Could't you add support for DAZ models and let the user of XSP mod them?

In next version it will be possible to change the character mesh. You have to use Maya (Autodesk) for that.

You could then use the DAZ mesh and textures for that (or another mesh). But it will require 3d skills (to create the facial expressions and the genital area).

Excellent!

And for the genital area... Daz actually does have prop add-ons of genitals. The latest Daz character actually has an extremely detailed female genital, but the labia majora are folded closed so much that unless you open it in Maya and start unfolding it (quite a task to be honest), you'll never realize just how much they put into it. But unfortunately, it still does not have an anus, nor sufficiently geometry to really create a good one in the region without modifying the mesh and thus breaking the ability to port the mesh back into Daz Studio.

Facial expressions are pre-made part of the Daz Studio software. Can't remember how many come stock and how many must be picked up from their store or elsewhere, but there's a vast amount of resources for animation there.

It's important to note that those first two licenses don't cover everything on the Daz 3D store, and only cover the products owned by Daz 3D themselves (as in, it actually labels "Daz 3D" as the creator of the product). Meanwhile, the RawArt license only covers products from the Daz 3D store owned by RawArt (he makes mostly beast and alien characters).

Also, i'll be perfectly honest, but i'm not exactly too sure what these licenses actually allow. I've read the Eula for them over and over again, and there doesn't seem to be anything covered in the game licenses that would allow using the models in a realtime 3D game. As far as I can understand, these licenses are only for those creating 2D games with pre-rendered sprites.

Now, Daz 3D did actually try selling realtime 3D game licenses before. A few years ago they actually opened up a sister store specifically for models that you can use in 3D engines. They even created plugins to help convert their high-resolution figures into lower poly game-engine ready figures (such as Decimator) and showed off videos of these characters working in Unity. The store didn't last long though, and was closed down due to lack of interest (the prices for these realtime game licenses were REALLY high...per model).

Long story short, Daz 3D is still a big no-no for this. You're better off either using nude-mods from other games like Oblivion (with permission of course*), or using MakeHuman to generate a base character you can then edit to your heart's content (MakeHuman models are CC0, as in public domain, so you can literally do anything and everything you want with them).

*Always check the readme files, you'd be surprised how helpful they can be. For example, the readme file for Robert's Male Body v5 for Oblivion says that you can do anything you want with Robert's files so long as you give credit, which has of course lead to people using those bodies in both GMod and Source FilmMaker.

Disclaimer: I am not an attorney. But I do deal with law. And I am having a hard time making sense of this too. I do think though that if they are saying you cannot use the software to make 2d sprites then they are overstepping their legal bounds and cannot restrict the ability to do so to only those who have purchased an extra license. Of course this may vary by country and region.

Still, yes looking at it I think it would be best to stay away from Daz. I don't really like their business practices anyhow.

Oooon the other hand, once this fellow finally finishes his Project-E model it may make a great place to start. May be too high-poly, but that's much easier to deal with than too low-poly. And I bet he could be talked into a license for games. Take a look at his artwork.
